Fundamental university physics free download
Aerodynamics and Aircraft Performance, 3rd edition is a college undergraduate-level introduction to aircraft aerodynamics and performance. This text is designed for a course in Aircraft Performance that is taught before the students have had any course in fluid mechanics, fluid dynamics, or aerodynamics. The text is meant to provide the essential information from these types of courses that is needed for teaching basic subsonic aircraft performance, and it is assumed that the students will learn the full story of aerodynamics in other, later courses.
The text assumes that the students will have had a university level Physics sequence in which they will have been introduced to the most fundamental concepts of statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, and basic conservation laws that are needed to understand the coverage that follows. It is also assumed that students will have completed first year university level calculus sequence plus a course in multi-variable calculus.
Separate courses in engineering statics and dynamics are helpful but not necessary. Any student who takes a course using this text after completing courses in aerodynamics or fluid dynamics should find the chapters of this book covering those subjects an interesting review of the material. How can we produce enough sustainable energy while avoiding unacceptable environmental consequences? To evaluate the various energy options, we must understand the science of each potential energy source and energy use technology.
This book presents the science in an easy-to-understand way to enable readers to make informed decisions about what is possible and practical, and to choose lifestyle options to implement in their personal lives.
Tools to synthesize the learning of thin films. After a review of textbooks written for undergraduate courses in physics, we have found that discussions on thin films are mostly incomplete. They consider the reflected and not the transmitted light … Expand. Calculation of local and average pressure tensors in molecular simulations.
A conceptually simple method to calculate local and average pressure tensors in simulations of molecular systems with discrete particles is presented. The pressure originates from the linear momentum … Expand. The Meaning of Mass. Electron, proton and neutron are described in terms of energy densities on least-action paths to show that their charges, magnetic mo ments and masses are man ifestations of quantized geodesics.

Together we have now transformed the traditional book of thousands of declarative sentences into a Rachael-type of discourse.
In each chapter section, I explain some physics and then ask guiding questions, which the online student will answer. In that way I guide the student through the chapter. The book is now much more than just a book. Rather, it is part of a learning center with information, interactive challenges, activities, games which can be group activities , and embedded media.
The reality is that today most students taking the introductory physics course are like Rachael in that they need lots of guidance and interaction. They will engage the students in visual ways, challenging them to dig deeper into the physics than the standard homework problems.
Many are based on real-world applications of physics and offer animations of time dependent phenomena. How do we help students understand challenging concepts in physics?
How do we motivate students to engage with core content in a meaningful way?
