Bw dm 610 manual
This means they're not too desirable for modern living rooms, but prices should be taken to reflect this rather than performance. The build quality of the cabinets and bass drivers is exceptional - the front baffle is around 1 inch thick and driver baskets are cast solidly; plus the magnet on the driver is huge. The DM was an upgrade in respect of the bass driver to the otherwise similar DM The sound is also top drawer - bass is deep and even for a ported design, and surprisingly for an 8 inch two way design the mids are very transparent.
Vocals in particular are detailed, expressive and nuanced; as are guitar strings, etc. The sounds balance leans towards brightness generally, but it's not tiring or designed to elicit showroom appeal. The port occasionally makes its presence felt, but generally this only serves to flatter music in a very 'hi-fi' sense; never giving the impression of a teenage rock box.
The tweeter might be its Achilles heel - at times it does not seem to work in tandem, and I noticed faint high frequency percussion in some recordings on my Mission s that were missing here. Still, these are exceptional for the money they currently sell for - I would certainly say they're as good as the Missions in relative terms; though perhaps not worthy of their iconic status.
It's also from an era of more demanding consumers of audio gear, and should therefore better anything currently selling for around that price new. This website is not affiliated with or sponsored by Bowers and Wilkins.
To purchase DM spares or accessories, please contact the company via their website or visit an authorised retailer. But that's not to say the company has stood still; as this list testifies. Naturally for a speaker company, it's dominated by stereo speakers, but you'll also find headphones, an iPod dock and even a home cinema system.
Inside the speakers a honeycomb-style bracing construction aimed to remove all unwanted resonance and reflections; the design giving the speaker range its Matrix name. Dynamic and controlled — there's not a lot to touch it at the price. They too featured a mm yellow Kevlar cone but interestingly opted for a sloped baffle where the tweeter was housed, a tweeter that was derived from the one found on the Matrix series. We're pleased to see we reviewed these speakers by "playing Black Grape's Shake Your Money at exceedingly high volume", so not much has changed there.
And very tempting they were, too. That isolated tweeter is back alongside a hefty Kevlar midrange driver and an aluminium bass cone. We didn't argue, heralding the Signature 30 speakers as "the ultimate in silver-spun sound with style". The result here is accuracy and pure transparency in great big spades. That large box means plenty of bass, alongside a transparent and detailed midrange OK, and a slightly forward treble.
The DMs were consistent performers over the years but it was the Series 2 and Series 3 models that really took them to the next level.
We've opted for Series 3 as our favourite version of the DM speakers, though again we could have opted for pretty much any model. These speakers, reviewed in March , were famously described as having "voice coils of the Gods" by one What Hi-Fi? Awards in a row. Need we go on? OK, well firstly, check out how cool it looks. Secondly, understand the smart spherical design is for performance reasons, promising to deliver "the Holy Grail of subwoofer design: deep and clean bass from a near-invisible box".
The PV1 uses two 20cm drivers in an opposed, in-phase array powered by a watt Class-D amplifier. The results are sensational: almost zero resonance but stunning speed and power, and a remarkable sub that rocked our world - and our test rooms - for the best part of a decade.
They sound even better than they look, with a room-filling soundstage that's balanced and detailed. It was the same story when it came to headphones. All the headphones shared a similar sleek design, could fold-up for easy portability, were comfortable and, crucially, delivered a sound with impact, insight and impressive scale.
