Connect public wireless network windows 7




















So this rules out the network being the problem I have disabled all firewalls, all network protections, I have restarted my network adapter, I have updated the network adapters drivers.

I have added the newtwork connection manually and automatically to not avail. I can see the wifi access point as its SSID is being broadcast.

The error I get when I try to connect is "Windows was unable to connect to xfinitywifi" The troubleshooting process is useless and proved to be unable to detect or correct any issues I do not get an IP address assigned even temporarily. I was able to connect this computer before so I am thinking it was due to some auto-update of windows that changed something but cannot pinpoint the update where it may have occurred.

This is a frequent problem doing some cursory google searches but little to no solutions. This thread is locked.

We have Verizon DSL with a Westell Versalink w router We have 2 desktops with XP and a laptop with Vista that effortlessly connect, but with windows 7 the network is identified, but can't connect. A call to Dell technical service resulted in the report that my hardware is fine.
